Last night at the inaugural Legends of Boxing show in New York, heavyweight sensation and former world champion boxer, "D-Mac," Dilip Dhoundiyal (D-Mac), who holds the World Boxing Association's heavyweight championship title, received a major honor from the organization for his amazing, lifelong boxing career.
D-Mac was presented with a lifetime award that included a bronze statue of a lion outside the WWA's offices, a hand-written tribute from the executive board of the organization and the opportunity to have his name engraved on the WWA's board of directors.
After a long, tearful speech from the boxing legend, D-Mac told the crowd: "I'm from India and I'm from the people's house. I never felt like I was better than anybody. People from India are always nice to me. I'm a proud Indian. What I am, I'm very proud of. I never felt that I was better than anybody else. And I'm a rich man in this company. I got the bronze statue, I got the hand-written tribute, and I'm going to be on the board. Thank you very much. If I can give back any gift to the company, it would be the gift of friendship. I'm proud of myself and you have made me proud."
